Girl Scout Troop 7668 of Delhi/Earlville tackled a Girl Scouts Forever Green project with the help of A LOT of recycled plastic bags.
The troop was one of 20 grant recipients from Building with Bags. This grant provided three picnic tables at Delhi City Park made from plastic bags. The girls are encouraging people to drop off their plastic bags at Heritage Bank or Kwik Stop in Delhi so they can be recycled into more picnic tables.
The Build a Bag Program is a cooperative effort of the Iowa Grocery Industry Association, Keep Iowa beautiful, Metro Waste Authority in Des Moines, Iowa Department of Natural Resources, City Carton and The Des Moines Register. These organizations focus on reducing plastic bags and the environmental impact.
