Kristen Budreau of West Branch completed her Gold Award project, To Make a Wish Come True, this summer to earn the Girl Scout Gold Award.
She is a 2012 recipient of the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award a girl can earn in Girl Scouts.
Kristen researched wish lists at the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital and Ronald McDonald House and made it possible to grant dozens of wishes. She collected household and food items to donate to University of Iowa Children’s Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House, helped prepare meals at the Ronald McDonald House, and worked with the Life Skills class at West Branch Middle School to sew blankets to donate to the children’s hospital.
Her church and the Life Skills class will continue these efforts into the future.
“Earning this award will enable me to inspire younger Girl Scouts to help others as well,” Kristen said of her project.
“I learned that I can be in charge if I want to. If I am put in a position where I need to succeed and be responsible for others, I can.”
