Creativity is found at Camp

Outdoor Program keeps the creativity flowing!

Creativity abounds at Girl Scout camp. In one of my recent chats with girls, we talked a lot about making art. Girls in the Challenge Quest session at Camp Little Cloud gave me lots of suggestions for making arts and crafts more accessible at camp. Like keeping little areas all throughout  camp stocked with supplies, so that girls can create whenever they have free time!

Duct Tape Creations

At the beginning of the summer we received several boxes full of patterned and colored Duct Tape, donated by the company for our camp programs to encourage girls’ creativity. I think my favorite crazy Duct Tape is this hilarious bacon tape!Girls have been creating bracelets and more with these wacky prints.

Let’s Tie Dye!

Another camp favorite is tie dye, and as you can see girls like this colorful camper at Camp Conestoga are having a fantastic time making their own t-shirt creations!

Friends of Camp Tahigwa Meeting

In other outdoor news, we just confirmed the date for a Friends of Tahigwa meeting to discuss ways to ensure many girls have the opportunity to experience Camp Tahigwa. The meeting will be held on July 29 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in Waukon at the Farmers and Merchants Savings Bank (201 W. Main Street, Waukon, IA 52172) with our CEO, Diane Nelson.

Many people have expressed an interest in the livelihood of this beautiful property and welcome your ideas, suggestions and support in moving forward. A light dinner will be served. Please RSVP to me at AngelaV@GirlScoutsToday.org or call 800-798-0833.

That’s all for this week of outdoor program with Angela Ventris. Check back next week for more excited news and adventures in outdoor program!
