October 31 for most people is a day for candy, costumes, and fright. October 31 to Girl Scouts is a day of celebration for our founder Juliette Gordon Low’s birthday.
Juliette “Daisy” Magill Kinzie Gordon (where our Girl Scout Daisy name comes from) was born in 1860 in Savannah, Georgia. Daisy was like most children, curious about everything.
She had an interest in the arts, often writing poems, sketching, acting in plays, painted and sculpted. To compliment her fondness with the arts, Juliette was very athletic. She swam, rowed, canoed, played tennis, and stood on her head.
To celebrate her birthday, every year, Daisy stood on her head! She celebrated other’s birthdays in this manner as well!
On October 31, let’s all celebrate our amazing founder’s birthday in Juliette Gordon Low style by standing on our head!
Please be safe if you try to stand on your head!
