From the Voice of Girl Scouts

Mall Mission 2014.2

“If you could tell the world one thing about Girl Scouts, what would it be?”

We asked 50 Girl Scouts that question at the Mall Mission event in Coralville, Iowa on Saturday, January 18, and we wanted share a few of their responses with you.

Some were answers setting the world straight on who girls are:

“We are just like boys. There is no need to treat us like fancy princesses; we are tough.”

“We’re considerate.”

Some were clarifications on what Girl Scouts do:

“We learn leadership.”

“We are creative. Creative thinkers, and doers.”

“We help the community.”

“Without Girl Scouts, I wouldn’t have been able to have done so many things like travel, see the world with a whole new vantage point and know that I have what it takes to change someone’s life for the better.”

“It is a great way to meet people and make friends.”

“We have fun!”

“Selling Girl Scout cookies is actually a lot of fun. We enjoy talking to people.”

“Girl Scouts isn’t what you think it is, we have so much fun. But while we’re having fun, we are learning about our courage and helping our community.”

“It’s fun to see others happy because of something I did.”

Some were statements that need no explanation:

“The more Girl Scouts there are, the world would be a better place. There would be more people helping those in need.”

Some answers were challenges to the public:

“Be a nice to everyone.”

“Be a sister (or brother) to everyone.”

“Be respectful.”
