It’s hard to believe, but our summer camp season in already over! Camp Little Cloud’s final day was August 2nd and Camp Conestoga wrapped up yesterday on August 6th. We’ve seen girls learn new skills like paddle boarding and photography, build teamwork by working together to tackle challenges, explore the outdoors and develop a deeper understanding of nature and make new friends that will last a lifetime.
While the final night campfires have been extinguished for the year, and campers are preparing to head back to school, planning for the summer 2014 has already begun!
Our 2014 summer resident camp will be held at Camp Little Cloud while renovations begin on our property near New Liberty. There is much to prepare for, and as we look forward to next year, we are seeking applications from girls (14-17) and adult volunteers from throughout the council to take part in our camping subcommittee.
The camping subcommittee will advise Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois on topics related to Girl Scout camp. The committee represents a critical voice advising on the future direction of Girl Scout camp in eastern Iowa and western Illinois to ensure the best program for girls.
The subcommittee will advise Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois on topics related to Girl Scout camp, within the framework of the property recommendations approved by the Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois Board of Directors on April 11, 2013. This subcommittee will report directly to the Leadership Experience Advisory Committee.
Members of the subcommittee may also be asked to spend time outside of subcommittee meetings gathering data, reviewing materials, and assisting with opportunities relating to Girl Scout camp such as events, trainings, and facilitator activities.
