The Girl Scout program values outdoor experiences. Yet, the outdoor experiences shouldn’t only happen with her Girl Scout experience. Get your whole family outside. The next couple of weeks, we’ll highlight ideas for you to use in getting your families in the great outdoors for our blog post series, “Ideas to Get Your Family Outside!”
This week our focus is camping activities that can be done in your backyard or park without actually camping.
A natural setting offers a dynamic, ever-changing canvas for your children to explore and observe. Plus, staying active in the great outdoors is a great way to strengthen family ties.
Many camping activities will keep the whole family engaged such as, hiking, building a camp fire, making s’mores, whittling sticks, and cooking meals over the campfire. But if your family’s not quite ready for wilderness camping, organize a campout in your own backyard! It’s cheap, fun and easier than you think.
All in all, try to get your family outside!
Outside Family Fun
Visit Camp Little Cloud for Family Fun Day to learn about resident camp, weekend horseback riding for groups, events and rental opportunities. Take a tour of camp, roast s’mores over a campfire and visit our craft station to make a camp creation! The price for this event is $5 per family. Cost includes a light lunch and all supplies. May 1 is the last day to register- don’t forget!
That’s all for this week of outdoor program with Angela Ventris. Check back next week for more excited news and adventures in outdoor program!
