A Troop Leader’s Perspective on Spring Registration

Troop 5813

Daisy Troop 5813 was the first Girl Scout troop to Spring register!

Fun fact: Spring Registration (early registration for the 2014-2015 membership year) started April 1. Is your Girl Scout one of the 626 that are all ready to go for their next year of Girl Scouting? Girl Scout Daisy troop 5813 of Cedar Rapids was the very first troop to Spring register. We caught up with the troop leader, Nicole Bruce to ask why her Girl Scout troop registered so soon for next year. Read her reasons to register now, and consider them as you Spring register!

Why did you Spring register?

I decided to Spring register with my troop for two reasons:

1. Since we did really great in our cookie sales, we decided to pay for the girls to re-register for the next year that were continuing in our troop.

2. The early registration incentives. The girls were excited about the incentives and leaders love shirts :)

It is also nice just to get it out of the way so we can enjoy summer and have one less thing to do come this Fall.

We would love to know why you registered your Girl Scout this Spring, drop us a comment and let us know.

What is your Girl Scout troop looking forward to?

Next year will be our second year as Daisies and we are really looking forward to working on more Journeys.

Our troop is also very committed to community service projects. This year we did a food drive, collected blankets for the animal shelter, collected clothes for a family that lost everything in a fire, donated money to our schools new playground, and we have an Earth Day project coming up as well. We are excited to reach out and do more work in our community. I truly believe this sets the girls up with the desire to serve their community in the future.

If you’re on the fence for taking part in Spring Registration, connect with other troop leaders at your next service unit meeting to see why they do or don’t.
